“Hello – I’m your biggest fan!”

We here at SwenglishRantings would like to let all of our readers out there know that WE ARE NOT TOKIO HOTEL!

A previous post here with a photoshopped image of the lead singer has unfortunately lead a few people to believe that we might be THEM, or have connections to the band…

Well – we are not them, nor do we have any connections to them. We’re about as NOT FAMOUS as can be, the only singing you’ll get from us is the stuff we hum when we’re in the shower! (I’m kidding – I sing pretty good, if I may say so myself…, but we’re no CELEBRITIES!)

We are of course very sorry for that little misunderstanding (it happens, don’t worry about it), but we thought it would be a good thing to gather up addresses and official websites for a few of the popular artists of today so that you CAN get in touch with them!

(The “soon to be 15 years old” Little Ranter has helped us come up with names of groups and artists – thank you SO much!)

Here we go, this is for all you FANS out there!!!

* * *

First out is, of course, Tokio Hotel!

Fan Mail Address:

Tokio Hotel
c/o Universal Music Deutschland
Straulauer Allee 1
10245 Berlin
Germany

If you want to write to a particular band member, just add that name on a new line underneath “Tokio Hotel”.

If you want to request an autograph, follow the guidelines below. If you just want to send a letter to the address above, and don’t really care about whether someone gets back to you, then you can stop reading!

If you live in Germany send a properly stamped and self addressed envelope (minimum size 8.5″ x 4″ or 21 cm x 10 cm) with your letter. Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a 3+ month wait for a response.

If you do not live in Germany, add several* International Reply Coupons. The International Reply Coupons (IRC) will be used by the receiver to purchase German stamps. You can only get them at your post office. Put the IRCs INSIDE the envelope, not on it.

*For information on postage prices to receive a letter from Germany, ask at the post office.

And here is the address to their official website:

http://tokiohotel.pop24.de/tokiohotel2/index2_de.php

At their website (if you don’t understand German, click on one of the little flags down at the bottom of the first page to get a translated version of the site) you can register for the forum and sign up for the e-mail newsletter.

Next up is Panic At The Disco! (No, I did not misspell the name, they have lost the “!” after Panic – I guess they’re just a little less panicky nowadays…)

Fan Mail Address:

Panic At The Disco

44 Wall Street, 22nd Floor
New York, NY 1000
USA

If you want to write to a particular band member, just add that name on a new line underneath “Panic At The Disco”.

If you want to request an autograph, follow the guidelines below. If you just want to send a letter to the address above, and don’t really care about whether someone gets back to you, then you can stop reading!

And their official website can be found here:

There you can listen to music, watch videos and of course join the fan club if you want to. The membership DOES however cost $30.00 – you might want to talk to your parents first…

Let’s see, who’s next? Ahh, yes – it’s Mika!

I haven’t been able to find an actual mailing address for him, and BELIEVE ME, I have tried!

However, his official website can be found here:

http://www.mikasounds.com/

Click on either the British or the American flag to get to the fun – if you register for the Secret Society you’ll get access to even MORE fun stuff than what you first see…, oh, yeah – and HEAR, because Mika’s songs keep on playing while you’re at the site, for as long as you want them to!

I really liked the look of this website, there are things happening all over the place! It made me feel HAPPY!

Then there’s Jason Mraz!

Fan Mail Address:

Jason Mraz
P.O. Box 69A36
Los Angeles, CA 90069
USA

If you want to request an autograph, follow the guidelines below. If you just want to send a letter to the address above, and don’t really care about whether someone gets back to you, then you can stop reading!

If you live in USA send a properly stamped and self addressed envelope (minimum size 8.5″ x 4″ or 21 cm x 10 cm) with your request letter. Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a 3+ month wait for a response.

*For information on postage prices to receive a letter from USA, ask at the post office.

His website is here:

http://www.jasonmraz.com/

Now, here’s a website with a very “home made” feel to it! It feels very “down to earth”, makes me like the artist even before hearing his music. I liked the option where you can choose between hearing his voice or his music while you look around. Once there, you can listen to his songs, look at photos, read his “bio” or sign up and post at one of the forums – there’s an American, a French, a Dutch and a German forum, just pick whatever language feels best for you.

Oh – and he even tells you where to send your “snail mail” – how about that?!?

Who’s next? Bullet For My Valentine!

I’ve found two seemingly OLD fan mail addresses, not sure if either of them actually works – the only way to find out is to write there, and see if the letter comes back to you marked “Return to sender, address unknown…”

Bullet For My Valentine
Sanctuary House
45 – 53 Sinclair Road
London W12 0NS
UK

and

Bullet For My Valentine
c/o The Agency Group
361-373 City Road
London EC1V 1PQ
UK

If you want to request an autograph, follow the guidelines below. If you just want to send a letter to the address above, and don’t really care about whether someone gets back to you, then you can stop reading!

If you live in UK send a properly stamped and self addressed envelope (minimum size 8.5″ x 4″ or 21 cm x 10 cm) with your request letter. Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a 3+ month wait for a response.

If you do not live in UK, add several* International Reply Coupons. The International Reply Coupons (IRC) will be used by the receiver to purchase British stamps. You can only get them at your post office. Put the IRCs INSIDE the envelope, not on it.

*For information on postage prices to receive a letter from UK, ask at the post office.

I’d go easy on the IRC’s though, since you don’t even know that the address really works. Write just a regular letter first and see what happens… Don’t forget to put your OWN address on the envelope too, otherwise it won’t get sent back to you if the address is wrong!

What DOES work is their official website:

http://www.bulletformyvalentine1.com/

Maybe sending an e-mail to one of the addresses listed under “Contacts” can get you the correct mailing address. Asking nicely, telling them you really want to send them a letter, but you don’t know which one of the two addresses is the correct one – if EITHER one of them work, that is – just might work.

* * *

Last, but definitely not least, we have One Republic!

No regular mailing address there either (I tried, I tried), but THEIR website can be found here:

http://www.onerepublic.net/

You HAVE TO check out the “Media” section, where they have a loooooooooooong list of music videos you can play.

To join their community you have to register, and you can also sign up for their e-mail newsletter.

Now – MOST artists might not reply to you in person, after all they probably receive TONS of fan mail, and if they were to answer each letter themselves they wouldn’t have time to PERFORM. Don’t be too disappointed if all you get is an autographed photo and nothing more.

Sending a letter WITHOUT the IRC’s inside might not get you an answer AT ALL, but then again, who knows – you might get lucky.

Once upon a long, long time ago, I sent a letter to UB40 (a reggae group from the stone ages, kids!), and I didn’t know anything about IRC’s, and I never sent them an addressed envelope, just a letter with my address down at the bottom – but I got a REALLY big photo of the band with all their autographs on the back of it, PLUS info about tours and upcoming albums!

It all depends…

(I’m not too sure about the minimum size of the envelope you’re suppose to write your OWN address on – 8.5″ x 4″ or 21 cm x 10 cm… I guess if they send you an autographed photo or something, that’s how big it might most likely be…, if you don’t want them to FOLD it, then a big envelope helps, I suppose!)

However, If I was someone who received fan mail, and the fans sent me IRCs so that I didn’t have to worry about the expense of postage, I think I’d at LEAST be able to get an envelope that was BIG ENOUGH if the one sent TO me was too small to hold whatever I was sending in return!

Whatever you do, don’t stop listening to their MUSIC just because you never got a proper reply – the music is what got you interested in them to begin with, don’t give that up. Try to think that the artist is just too busy making more of that good music to be able to reply to your letter.

That said – write something really nice when you finally decide to send that fan mail, let the artist(s) know just how the music makes you feel, let the artist(s) know what the music means to you…, and remember to be polite when you ask for an autograph – don’t say things like “if you don’t send me an autograph I will never listen to you again”, because that NEVER works! (It only makes you seem CHILDISH…)

One way to get a hold of an artist’s mailing address is to write a polite e-mail to one of the e-mail addresses you find listed under “Contacts” on their website. If that person doesn’t know, if you write a nice enough e-mail he or she might be able to get you that information from someone else.

It’s never IMPOSSIBLE, it just might take a bit of time to get you there!

GOOD LUCK!

PS: Just so you know, UB 40 still exists, and just because I CAN, I’ll give you THEIR mailing address and official website as well!

Fan Mail Address:

UB 40 / Reflex Muzic
PO Box 117
Birmingham
B5 5RG
UK

http://www.ub40.co.uk/

They’re not BAD, just a little older than the artists you youngsters like!

I wonder if they’d send me an autographed photo NOW if I wrote to them… *chuckle*
